EDITOR ’ S BRIEFING
The festive season is the perfect time to pause , reflect , and be grateful for those who help make our travel experiences smoother . The holidays are one of the busiest times of the year in the aviation industry and , while many of us are headed to reunite with loved ones , it is important to recognize the hard work of the crews and airport staff who keep things running . Whether it is a Flight Attendant ensuring you are comfortable or a gate agent patiently dealing with delays , a little kindness can go a long way . A smile or a simple “ thank you ” can make all the difference during these high-pressure times .

Speaking of high pressure , the ongoing Boeing strike has become a significant talking point . As of press date , negotiations have stalled ( no pun intended ). The ongoing strike by 33,000 workers has halted the production lines of the 737 , 767 and 777 , directly causing revenue losses .
While it is early to forecast the overall impact that the strike will have on the company , the situation appears severe : in an email sent to all Boeing employees on October 11 , Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg announced that 10 % of the workforce will be laid off , that the entry into service of the 777-9 will be delayed from 2025 to 2026 , and that the cargo version of the 767 jet will stop being built in 2027 , once current orders will have been fulfilled .
From Airways , we urge both sides to reach a swift resolution to the ongoing strike . Every day of delay intensifies the hardships for thousands of workers and the company itself . We are sure both parties will find common ground , and end this impasse .
On a lighter note , the holidays are a great time to indulge in some aviation-themed fun . In our shop , we have the perfect gifts for the aviation enthusiast in your life ! From our new subscription plans to the first volume of Exploring Airline History , which contains all the stories written during all these years by David H . Stringer , our History Editor . Also , we have begun delivering our 2025 Calendar , which features stunning photography from the world of air travel . Plus , our Airways Trivia game is now available — test your knowledge of aviation history , airline facts , and more .
Wishing you all safe travels and happy holidays ,
