a regular service . Commencing in December , Eagle operated it with two Dakotas wet-leased from Dan-Air .
Eagle ended 1965 with 513,783 passengers uplifted , contributing to an operating profit of £ 205,000 ( US $ 574,000 ) on an income of £ 8.6 million ( US $ 24.1 million ).
Eagle frequently applied for increased frequency on its three major domestic trunk routes , but to no avail , and it had to
reluctantly withdraw services in February 1965 as they had become unsustainable . Eagle reinstated the routes in June after the ATLB relented and , with the exception of Edinburgh , flew them twice daily with Britannias .
Needing to match its competitors , Eagle introduced the BAC One-Eleven jet to domestic trunk routes in April 1966 . With four in service , the 1-11s also brought jet service to holiday charter destinations and
