Incidentally , do not confuse St . John Airport with St . John ’ s International Airport ( YYT ), which is 650 miles ( 1,000 km ) to the east , in Newfoundland .
A LOGISTICS ECOSYSTEM
The airport is looking for partners to build the logistics park around its runways .
“ Air represents a great solution for being able to bring everything from fresh produce to things that need to be delivered in a timely fashion , or things that need to be brought in and stored and then be delivered quickly to another market .” Ross said . He quipped that the development of the logistics park would be a ‘ quadfecta ’ for the city , which already has freight traffic moving through by “ ocean , road , and rail .” If air traffic is added to the mix , Ross said , it would complete “ the picture of St . John as a logistics hub for North America .”
Airports around Canada — such as Montreal ’ s Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport ( YUL ) or Halifax ( YHZ )— have embarked on similar ventures , proving that airport acreage can be more valuable to certain companies than a regular industrial park would .
