took the spotlight on the second , firming separate agreements with Airbus and Boeing for 470 aircraft . The deal , previously announced in February as commitments , involves 190 Boeing 737 MAXs , 140 Airbus A320neos and 70 A321neos , 20 Boeing 787-9s , and 10 777-9s on order . The Airbus pact is for 40 A350s , 34 A350-900s , and six A350-1000s .
Nothing else in the show , however positive , could match
blockbuster numbers like those . Among the lessors , Avolon took the lead , disclosing a preliminary deal for 20 Airbus A330-900s , plus a firm order for 40 Boeing 737-8s , and signing a sale and lease agreement with Canada ’ s Porter Airlines ( PD ) for 10 E195-E2 . Air Lease Corporation placed an order for two Boeing 787s .
Taiwanese carrier China Airlines ( CI ) exercised the last remaining eight options from an
order , announced in September 2022 , for up to 24 Boeing 787s . The Airbus A350 backlog also grew during the show , with three firm orders from Air Mauritius ( MK ) for the A350-900 and a commitment for nine A350-1000s from Philippine Airlines ( PA ).
Besides the Air India announcement , Boeing scored a handful of orders for its 737 MAX : Luxair ( LG ) became the European launch customer for the Boeing 737-7 with a deal for four aircraft . Air Algerie ( AH ) finalized an agreement for eight 737-9s previously announced last May . Akasa Air ( QP ) ordered four 737-8s , a follow-up to an order already placed for 72 aircraft , taking it to a total of 76 , with 23 of them being 737-8s and 53 the high-density 737-8-200s .

Meanwhile , Mexico ’ s Volaris ( Y4 ) was disclosed as a customer for a previously unattributed deal for 25 Airbus A321neos , while Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier Flynas ( XY ) placed a firm order for 30 additional A320neo family aircraft . The A220 program also saw its backlog tick up , with Qantas ( QF ) placing an incremental order for nine A220-300s .

The second trading day of the show also saw announcements from ATR and Embraer . The Franco-Italian manufacturer announced orders for 22 aircraft from eight customers , including Azul Airlines ( AD ) ( up to eight 72-600s ), Berjaya Air ( J8 ) ( two 72-600s fitted in the OEM ’ s HighLine Business Class configuration ), and Mandarin Airlines ( AE ) ( six 72-600s ). The other five airlines were not disclosed , although the manufacturer confirmed that the deals were firm for the 42- 600 and 72-600 turboprops .
