AIRWAYS SPECIAL Art in the Air
Imagine the moment when you first see the airplane that will fly you to a different city or country . What does immediately catch your eye ? Certainly the aircraft livery . From white fuselages to detailed tail logos , through colorful ideas and designs , a plane ’ s decoration is one of the most crucial aspects an airline must think about to keep its image aligned with its products and inflight experience .
DESIGNING A LIVERY is one of the longest and most difficult processes an airline goes through before entering the market . Deciding upon the colors , symbols , and artistic trends that will distinguish a fleet for years cannot always be done in-house . External help is needed .
Landor & Fitch , an influential brandconsulting firm headquartered in San Francisco , California , has helped in the design and incorporation of important liveries for airlines such as Etihad Airways ( EY ), British Airways ( BA ), and , most recently , ITA Airways ( AZ ), as well as hundreds of other companies from different industries around the world .
1 British Airways brought back its iconic Landor livery to celebrate its 100 years of history . The aircraft chosen was this Boeing 747-400 , now retired from service . // MISAEL OCASIO
