One of the most memorable lines in film comes from the 1942 classic Casablanca , where the two main characters , on the verge of separating , remember their brief romance in the French capital in the early days of World War II . The line “ We ’ ll always have Paris ” means that regardless of everything else that happens , they shall always have those memories and nothing can change them .
Now , moving forward some decades , I can ’ t help but have that same feeling when looking back at our back issues ( check them out at airwaysmag . com for some good deals !) and take a glance at our coverage of the Paris Air Show over the last few years .
The excitement is the same . The event showcases the very best of aviation innovation and design amid the action of orders and commitments made by airlines from all over the world . The 2023 Paris Air Show was no exception . Some new records were set even as some doubts remain about the recovery of the industry , given the uncertainties of the post COVID-19 pandemic world .
But optimism endures despite these concerns and , while walking through the different exhibition halls in Le Bourget , I couldn ’ t help but think about Charles Lindbergh ’ s historic 1927 transatlantic flight . His feat not only proved aviation ’ s potential , but also sparked the enthusiasm that , to this day , propels the industry forward . There at Le Bourget , the epicenter of one of the largest gatherings of the aerospace industry , a small plaque on the apron marks the place where , almost 100 years ago , the history of aviation changed for good .
Perhaps , in a few more decades , our future readers will indulge in our work ( also available in digital format at www . airwaysmagdigital . com ), taking a look at what aviation was before their time , and concur that we ’ ll always have … Airways . We ’ ll be there to bring you the latest developments in this ever-changing industry as aviation becomes more sustainable , efficient , and accessible to all .
