Trans World Airlines ( TWA ) had a rich history lasting more than seven decades . Throughout that time , TWA operated 35 Boeing 747s , including three Special Performance ( SP ) for ultra longrange routes . TWA took delivery of its first SP in 1980 , but by 1986 , all SPs left the fleet .
