Also from the Northwest merger , Delta acquired 16 757-300s . Each plane seats 234 passengers . This includes a 24 seats in a large recliner-style First Class cabin , 32 in Extra-Legroom Economy , and 178 in Standard Economy . All seats feature on-demand seatback entertainment . First Class is in a 2-2 configuration , Coach in 3-3 .

BOEING 717 ( 2013-PRESENT )
In 2012 , Delta arranged to acquire all 88 of AirTran ’ s Boeing 717 jets . AirTran had merged with Southwest , and Southwest decided against integrating the 717 into its all-Boeing 737 fleet . On October 25 , 2013 , Delta ’ s first 717 , N935AT , flew from Atlanta to Newark , New Jersey . The 717 ’ s arrival made Delta the only airline to operate all major variations of the DC-9 simultaneously : DC-9 , MD-88 , MD-90 , and Boeing 717 .

BOEING 737-900 ( ER ) ( 2013-PRESENT )
Delta received the first of 100 Boeing 737-900 ( ER ) s on September 27 , 2013 . DL put the airliner into service on November 1 on the Atlanta-Detroit route . In December 2015 , Delta announced it was adding 20 more 737-900ERs . The last of this batch arrived in June 2019 . Besides these aircraft , Delta has added another 43 of the type through secondhand acquisitions and leases , bringing the total number to 163 aircraft .
