8 The airport ’ s North Security Checkpoint is located in what was designed to be an international arrivals hall .
1 included the addition of four new restrooms , large tile flooring , and other aesthetic updates aimed at modernizing the look of the terminal .
The project designer , Stantec , of Edmonton , renovated the middle portion of the Jeppesen Terminal and upgraded its finishes . Stantec improved checkpoint flow and operational efficiencies by deploying new hybrid check-in pods , which streamline the baggage / check-in process while creating an intuitive entry to the terminal .
Improved technology is at the forefront of the Great Hall Project . Take the new pods created by German software manufacturer Materna IPS , where passengers check in their bags . During
Phase 1 , 86 of them were installed ( 43 on each side of the airport ). The pods ’ layout enables airlines to choose whether they will be operated in manual mode , with each being staffed by an airline agent , or in automatic mode , with one agent overseeing multiple ones . At the same time , travelers can print their baggage tags themselves .
On October 27 , 2021 , less than 20 months after Hensel Phelps resumed work on the project , the airport celebrated the completion of Phase 1 . In early November 2022 , United Airlines and Southwest Airlines relocated to their new , improved check-in spaces . United is now located centrally on the west side of the Jeppesen Terminal , while Southwest is in the center of the east side .
