9 Denver has grown to become United ’ s largest hub , with the airline operating 90 gates .
PHASE 2
In July 2021 , construction for Phase 2 began to build a new security checkpoint in the northwest corner of the Jeppesen Terminal ’ s Level 6 . The new checkpoint will include 17 new Automated TSA Screening Lanes , improved technology , and a new queuing concept . To make room for this , the airport has extended the balcony on the west side of Level 6 and added a new class partition .
The new checkpoint will be located on the same level where passengers check-in , making it easier for them . Once the new security checkpoint opens , the airport will close its North one and convert it into a retail area and passenger greeting zone for international travelers . The South and A-Bridge security checkpoints will remain open until the completion of Phase 3 . The airport is exploring the idea of closing the A-Bridge security checkpoint with the opening of the West one , but a decision has yet to be made .
THE CHECKPOINT OF THE FUTURE
The new security checkpoint , expected to open in the first quarter of 2024 , will include self-service boarding pass scanning . Once passengers will have scanned their boarding passes , they will be assigned to one of the ‘ vestibules ’— smaller secure areas
