A DAY IN COPENHAGEN

AS THE OLD SONG SAYS , IT ’ S ‘ WONDERFUL , WONDERFUL ’

FROM SEPTEMBER , vacationers from every corner of the US will be able to enjoy hassle-free , one-stop travel to Copenhagen , as SAS Airlines ’— which codeshares with Delta Air Lines , having joined SkyTeam — has inaugurated a brand new nonstop service from Atlanta to the Danish capital and .
Endless online resources advertise the glories of Copenhagen , Denmark , and of Scandinavia in general . Still , what should North Americans look forward to and what cultural shocks — and delights — await after making the long transatlantic haul ?
I had a chance to spend 24 hours in Copenhagen before flying back to ATL . While SAS covered the flights , I was left to my own devices once at the destination . I had learned that the city has a fleet of ‘ hop on , hop off ’ double-decker tourist buses and thought that that would be the best way to visit at least the central , must-see part of the city . So , once I had landed and explored a bit of the beautiful airport ( Københavns Lufthavn – CPH ), my goal was to get to the city center and hop aboard .
